Reading

Today in Hur6 which is power to the people, we have to share the book we read. The book I read is called Star Fell the author is Dominque Valente. Its about some people trying to steal different types of potions and they have powers like when they accidentally lose something they can easily find it. If they go outside somewhere and you leave something at home you can't easily find it because you know where it is. If you try to lose something its the same you cant purposely find it you have to accidentally lose it to find it again.

June 3rd

Today I continued reading Star Fell and it wasn't much but I started reading chapter 5. It was saying that Wolkana couldn't find her way to find the potions.

June 8th

Willow and Moreg are trying to find there way back to Radditch, but they are trying to do it peacefully so they don't wake up the brothers and their presence. As they were getting closer Willow thought less about the brothers, and she wondered more about the people they she might meet along the way. She then realised that she is bound to meet the broom-makers. Willow Couldn't believe it, she was so excited to see brooms fly. During their excitement they realise they need to remember one important thing... 

June 15th 

As Willow watched she saw that there were hundreds of workstations with different Mementons all involved in various stages of broom construction. News of their arrival spread quickly within seconds a rather short mementon (at just below 9 feet) came forward to greet them.

June 17th

When Willow meet the mementons she thought that there eyes were strange. They were a deep dark blue that had white flecks in them. It looked like small chips of the night sky full of stars. Willow wondered if he saw things differently with eyes like that. 

June 22nd

I have a new book and it is called The Bone Tiki. It was made by a famous New Zealand author called David Hair. 

June 24th

They are about to leave for a funeral and in the Maori culture they have something called a tangi which lasts around 3 days. 

Evaporation

Aim: Is to use evaporation to
Hypothesis: The Copper sulfate will turn into crystals.

Equipment:

• Copper sulfate
• solution
• 250mL Beaker
• Heat proof mat
• evaporating basin
• element

Method: 

1. Set up element
2. Add 50mL of hot water to the beaker and place on the element.
3. Add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full.
4. Carefully, place the the evaporating basin on top of the beaker. 
5. Turn on the element to 8
6. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming. 
7. Turn off the element- careful not to touch as will be hot for a long time.

Observations: The water looks like it is evaporating.

9/11

In Social Studies we had to do a timeline on 9/11 and the tragedy's that happened. The tragedy's were about an American Airline plane that crashed into the WTC (World Trade Centre)

Music (Instrumental Industries)

This week in Music (Instrumental Industries) we have done a DLO about music through the decades. The decade I did are 2010s, 2000s, 1990s, 1980s, 1970s and 1960s. 

This is my slide show. 

I hope you learnt more about the different types of music. 

Trash

For a while our teacher Mrs Allan Fletcher has been reading a book to us called Trash and the Author is Andy Mulligan. The story is about the 3 main characters Rat, Gardo and Raphael. They live on Smokey Mountain which is based in Behala Philippines, Smokey Mountain is a dump site in Behala and they call it Smokey Mountain because there is always smoke coming from the trash that is around. 

The 3 main characters (Rat, Gardo and Raphael) will always work really hard on this Island. They were cracking codes and solving mysteries and they were living a hard life. Through out there journey they meet some good people and some bad people but they accomplished there goal.   

This is a video of what Smokey mountain is about.

The journey is a little bit about finding money and someone stole it and stuff relating to that. 

They found the money and didn't know what to do with it, so that is when the journey started. 

I'm not going to say to much about the book because that is for you to find out.

I recommend this book to anyone who is interested in it, or is just interested in a type of book that is kind of about the rich and poor life.

THE BIG PICTURE

• What animals keep our jackets warm?
• There are heaps of animals that keep our jackets warm the animals are Coyotes, Beavers, Red foxes, Mink, Fishers, River Otters, Marten and Weasels,  
• What animal makes our boots waterproof?
• Ducks are the animals that makes are boots water proof.
• Where does the water in our rivers come from?
• Most of the the water flowing through the rivers come from precipitation runoff from the surrounding landscape. The water in the rivers doesn't all come from surface runoff. Rain falling on the land also seeps into the Earth to form ground water. It also come from melting snow.
• Why do we need healthy rivers?

• We need healthy rivers because healthy rivers can produce so much for us. food, medicines, building materials, land-replenishing silts, and more.

• What are some of the good things about mosquitoes?
• If mosquitoes went extinct the insects that feed off their larvae would suffer. They would suffer because they feed of mosquitoes larvae. They also clean the water.  
• Why are bees dying?
• Bees are dying because of colony collapse disorder. This disorder causes significant economic losses because many farm land crops worldwide are pollinated by western honey bees.
• What do bugs do to our leaves?

• Recycle.
• Reduce.
• Reuse.
• How much dung would we be in if there were no dung decomposers?
• There wouldn't be much dung because we need it to put it in jackets and clothing. We get it from animals that live in cold habitats like sheep.
• Who runs this planet?

Mother nature runs this planet.

Drama Hurumanu

On Tuesday we started our Drama Hurumanu and we played some games. The games we played were 16 steps, Tequila, Two truths and a lie, Copy circle, Yes lets and Statues. 

We also did a freeze frame about the 4 aspects of Hauora which is Physical well being (Taha Tinana) Mental/emotinal wellbeing (Taha Hinengaro) Social wellbeing (Taha Whanau) spiritual wellbeing (Taha wairua). Here are the photos of my groups 4 aspects of Hauora:

Drama to me was really fun we played heaps of fun game's and activity's and learnt heaps more about Hauroa.
One of the activity's we played were a activity'y where you would have to go around the room and right down things to help your well being about the the 4 aspects of Hauroa.

Freeze frames were about the 4 aspects of Hauroa. We had to think about a pose for each aspect and freeze for about 3 seconds on each pose and then you get a photo taken of your freeze frame.

Dance group

This term and last term I was in the dance group for our C.I.P days on Wednesday. Last week on Friday the dance group performed at the Junior assembly. Unfortunately I was away that day but here is a video of the performance. We danced to the song cut to the feeling and this is what it looked like.

This is last terms dance and we danced to the song east side. When you watch the video you will see that I was in the front row and I was sharing a centre spot with someone else. Here is that video.

Last term when I performed with the rest of the dance group I was really nervous because it was my first time performing and I messed up at the end but it was still okay.

Wet Lands

Aim: To learn about the wetland ecosystem.

What is a Wetland?

Any land consisting of marshes or swamps and land that is saturated with water.                                                                

4 different kinds of wetlands

1. Marsh - wetland that is dominated by plants.
2. Swamp - an area of low-lying, uncultivated ground where water collects.
3. Bog - an area of wet muddy ground is very soft.
4. Mire / fen - a stretch of swampy or boggy ground.
