Brainstorm for textiles

In textiles we are working on some ideas to make something when we get back in the classroom.

These are Anneleise and I's ideas we could use and I'm thinking about either doing Pom Pom rug or  String pot holder.

Maori

In Māori lately we have been learning about food. Yesterday we learnt about how to make a hāngi. We had to make instructions on how to make a hāngi and I worked with Addyson.
Here it is.
Did you know in pacific they have a Umu and in Hawaii they have something similar to a Hāngi but its called a Luao?
While we have been learning about Hāngi I've learnt about the different layers and to make one. I have had a Hāngi before but I wasn't there when it was getting made.
When I was eating the food in the Hāngi I mainly ate the stuffing because it was DELICIOUS.
A Hāngi can relate to Matariki because some people would want to go see Matariki and they make a little over ground Hāngi with stones and the food cooks in the middle of all the stones. When the Matariki stars come out they take the top stones off so the steam comes out and feeds the spirits of Matariki.

CIP - Tane mahuta

Today in CIP I only did half an hour of it because I was in Kapa Haka and then my class had Kiwi Kaha. In Period 2 that's when some people planted some plants. They planted 4 different types of vegetables called Cabbage, Beetroot, Cauliflower and Broccoli. When I was gardening in period 3 I helped with the cover for the plants and the structure to hold up the cover. The cover is basically for the plants to keep them healthy, fresh and warm. To make the structure we had to go find sticks and stick them into the edges of the trench. Then we had to connect the black tubes to each stick that was on each side and when we were finished we put the cover over top. To secure the cover we put sticks through the cover into the ground.

Maths DLO

In maths I have been working on a DLO about what my favourite maths strategy is. My favourite is the column strategy because it is really easy to use. Here is my DLO.

I hope you understand the strategy I used to make this DLO and it is helpful.
Have a nice day.

Today in Science we made scones.

Aim: How different ingredients react in scones.

Process
Step 1: Get a plate and bowl to mix your ingredients.
Step 2: Get your ingredients and mix them.
Step 3: Mix till its turns into a dough.
Step 4: Mold your dough into a scone shape.
Step 5: Put them Into the oven and wait till they cook.
Step 6: Then see how they taste.

Here are the recipes we used for each scone.

    COLOUR

    TASTE

    HEIGHT (MM)

    1. NORMAL

This scone was definitely the best it was crispy and light brown it was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.

68mm is the height of the normal scone.

    2. WITH LEMONADE

This scone was DISGUSTING I never knew scones could taste so bad it was literally as hard as a rock.

45mm is the height of the lemonade scone.

    3. WITH BAKING POWDER

This one also was so GROSS it was the worst. It was a dark brown golden type colour and it was very bitter and dry.

42mm is the height of the baking soda scone.

Conclusion:

The normal Scone was the crispest and it had a light brown colour. The Scone with lemonade was disgusting it was as hard as a Rock. Scone with baking powder was very disgusting. It had a dark brown colour and it was really bitter and dry.

All of the scones were baked at 200 degrees Celsius. Also they were all baked for 10 minutes.
