Alchemy - Science

Today in science we studied alchemy. The aim was to try and turn a copper coin into gold. The equipment we needed was: 

  • Copper coin
  • Bunsen burner
  • Tripod
  • Heat mat
  • Gauze mat
  • 50ml beaker
  • Scissor tongs
  • Zinc metal
  • Zinc Nitrate solution
My group is Jeff, Callum and me

I was actually hoping the coin would change gold, I thought it would but it didn't.
it was fun changing the coins colours.

    This looks like fun Hope! I love the photos. Which solution changed the colour of the coin> Or was it a combination of both? The list of materials is good, maybe next time you could add a method too?

      It was fun, I tried not to get people in the photos but that couldn't happen.
      I'm also not that sure of how it changes color I thought it was the Zinc metal?
      I'll remember to add a method this friday.
