CIP - Tane Mahuta

Last week for CIP we were out in the garden cleaning the area. There was a lot of tyres and they were filled with soil so we had to tip the soil out and roll the tyres down to the back. After we did that we got the soil off the tarps and folded the tarps, then we took the tarps down to the back with the tyres. There was other groups helping to clean the garden area and they were the groups that helped cleaned the classroom and pruning the trees.

Then today we started to dig up the soil and turn it over. We mixed in fresh soil so it would be fresh to plant plants in. We had to turn it over because it needed to be soft so plants and be planted there.

When we were out there doing the soil we found so many worms. Worms are really good for the dirt because worms help to increase the amount of air and water that gets into the soil. They break down into a organic matter. When worms eat the grass they leave there manure behind and it can be a type of fertiliser.
