Algebra in Science

In Math we had to make a Presentation about velocity. It is basically a mix of Math and Science.

In Math for this trimester we have been learning a whole lot of different stuff. We learnt a lot about Geometry and Algebra. We would do work on mathletics, play games and a lot more. Lately we have been working on a presentation that uses math and science. We had to use Time, Distance and Speed.

These are our Results

During this Hurumanu (Making waves Hurumanu) It was pretty fun, I feel that I learned more during this Hurumanu and the way Mr Carter taught us was actually really fun. During this Hurumanu I found everything really fun to learn, we would learn stuff through games, videos and things that just made math fun.

Acting Style - Drama

Generally this means "Over the Top" in every way. Here are some techniques which help create this affect.

- Slower, cleaver delivery of lines with huge projection. Remember Victorian Theatres were huge and there were no microphones.

- Play everything to the audience, even if you are supposed to be talking to another character on stage! Indictae whom you are talking to by looking sideways at them and holding your hand out towards.

  • Address the audience directly whenever the script will allow you to do so.

  • •

  • The Pose: Invent poses of shock, horror, love, evil, intent, cruelty, desire, dilemma, forgiveness, begging forgiveness etc. A pose should last at least three seconds and should be clearly visible from fifty metres.

  • The working yourself up to the pose: lasts two to three seconds --let's see you getting there!

  • •

  • The Gasp - very loud expressing a range of emotions. Often accompanied by a pose.

  • The Swoon - often preceded by lines such as "Alas! I can hardly bear it." The swoon should be graceful and provision should be made for someone to catch you.

  • The long walk downstage/upstage/across stage when hatching a plan or in a dilemma

  • The Pacing- to and fro across the stage when hatching a plan or in a dilemma. Move before you speak so that the audience can track who is speaking

  • The Tableau (freeze frame)- the still picture made up of a number of characters to freeze the moment, eg: The Happy Ending/ The Secret Lovers. The tableaux should be very explicit

  • The Sigh/The Groan/The Tubercular Cough

  • First Entrances are important - may even bow, this is related to the cult of “The Actorthe Star system

Compliments

In Wananga we have been working on giving people deep compliments. We had a piece of paper and we could draw something in the middle and then we would go round writing compliments. Instead of writing surface compliments like "Your really nice", "I like your hair today", "You have have a good smile" or something like that. For a deeper compliment you could say "You are a very caring person and you help put your friends" it has to be meant from the heart. The compliments that really hit me were "You always come out as a warm and a friendly person" and "Such a good friend to others and funny". I felt really good but also surprised that I got really good compliments. I felt like people actually cared about me and could see deeper things about me. When I gave compliments I felt good that someone was getting something really nice and could see the good side of themselves.

Melodrama

What is a theatre green room?

In show business the green room is a space in most theatre rooms or similar venues that function as waiting rooms and lounges rooms for the performance before.

In scholarly and historical musical contexts, melodramas are Victorian dramas in which orchestral music or song was used to accompany the action. The term is now applied to stage performances without music, novels, movies, television and radio broadcasts.

Melodrama was very popular when it first came out in Britain in the 1800s. The actors became very famous and the common story lines soon became well known. Lots of plots centred on emotions such as suffering a romance. They styles of acting could be described as stylised. if you were to watch it today you would call it `over the top`. The characters were all `larger than life` and required the actors to use a lot of energy when playing them.

Politcal party's

Today we were deciding who our leader was in our group. in our group we have Shontelle, Anneleise, Keyana and me. We have been brainstorming The elected leader, Slogan, Name of party, and what is our party known for. We chose Shontelle to be our elected leader and our party is known for being against discrimination. We are still thinking about a Slogan, Logo and name of party.

31st July
Today we got our Logo, Name of party, Slogan and some of our policies and we also changed the elected leader. The elected leader is now me and our party name is Anti Discrimination. Our slogan is "Stop Discrimination for a better nation". Also our logo is:

Next week we have to finish the policies, start the manifesto and I will have to write my leaders speech.

Photo montage - Photography Art

In art we have been looking at montage photos. A montage photo is a combination of cut and or torn pieces from different photos. You then merge them together and it will turn into something like this.

So in some way this kind of looks like a trophy

For this one its a photo of a sculpture and I cut out and put human lips into it. It's kind of like the sculpture is coming to life.

This one reminds me of someone that is really shy and they are trying to hide themselves.
