Night Vision - Review

Last term my reading group done a novel study on a book called Night Vision, Ella West is the author for this book and it is a really good book and I really enjoyed it.
While reading the book we had to answer some questions about what we were reading, like questions relating to the part of the book we were reading about.
These are some of the questions I answered.

1. Who is the author?  Do some research. Where are they from?  Have they won awards? Why might your teacher have chosen this author for you to read?

2. Use your white hat and list information about the text.

These are some of my answers to the questions.

  1. That someone is running away and there was a robbery. It was set at night.
  2. Yes it does because it uses interesting words and heaps of punctuation to interest me into the book.
  3. The page I read was page 24 and it was really interesting because there was heaps of stuff I didn’t know yet so when I read it I will understand it later on.
  4. Our author is Ella West, and she is from New Zealand Invercargill and she lives in Dunedin with her husband and 2 Sons. Her pen name is Karen Trebilcock. She is an Author for young adults. She has won an award from LIANZA, she won the young adult children’s choice in the New Zealand book awards for Children and young adults. Her first book was thieves and it came out in 2006, her latest book out is Night Vision it came out in 2014. I think Mrs Allan Fletcher choose this book for us because it's really interesting. She has read heaps of books and she might have thought it would be a good book for us to read.
  5. This book is a Fiction because it says that on the back of the book. If it wasn’t there and I never knew I would probably think its a fiction because if it was real then it could potentially be on the news.
  6. I think this book will be about Viola being in an accident and she is a witness and she has been seeing things that she is not meant to.

This book was really good to read I really recommend it. I loved to read this book it was so interesting, I would read it again any day.

Hurumanu Drama - Paper Bag puppets

On Tuesday we made paper bag puppets. I worked in a group with Addyson and Shontelle. The puppets we made were 2 Spongebobs and a Patrick. Before that we did a poster about the 4 aspects of Hauora. Then we started to plan what our puppets were going to look like. Addyson and Shontelle did Spongebob I did Patrick because Patrick is cool.

Later today we are going to perform our puppet show. Our puppet show goes like this. So we start off by singing the theme song and then Shontelle's Spongebob will take my Patrick to the Krusty Krab and I'll ask for 2 Kelp salads. Then Addyson is the surprise Spongebob then we start to talk about how eating healthy food relates to all 4 aspects of Hauora. Next we will be having fun as friends then we will sing the fun song from Spongebob.

When we did the Poster about the 4 aspects of Hauora we said some stuff like always eating healthy food and I will cook for my family and just stuff like that. Taha Tinana Is Physical well being to help that well being with eating food you can eat healthy food to give yourself more energy. Taha Hinengaro is mental and emotional well being to help that you can always talk to people when your feeling sad or anything like that. Taha Whanau is social well being so you just talk to your friends and family. Taha Wairua is Spiritual well being so you just have to keep your body healthy.

Charlesworth Reserve

On Wednesday we went on a trip to Charles Worth Reserve. We planted some plants and then we went over by Mitre 10 and picked up rubbish. We all planted about 3 or 4 plants each and all together it was around 150 plants. We went with 7/8Wh and 7/8Ts even the Kiwi Kaha leaders came with us. We went out by the wetlands it is was so muddy and sandy, there were so many Crab holes as well. We planted different types of plants I can't really remember what they were called, I think they were Sea Rush or just Rush.

When we first got there we had our morning tea. It was a pretty long bus drive.

We had the Park ranger Andrew come and help us plant the plants and where we needed to plant them and where we needed to go to plant them and things like that.

After we planted the plants we went and had some lunch. Then after lunch we went and picked up rubbish around Mitre 10.

It was very muddy and sandy so we all got covered in mud and sand. It was still fun though. I had a great time but it was also exhausting.

Charles Worth Reserve is located in Bromley and that is in the middle of Ferrymead.

Mr Tish was the one that made this all happen big Thanks to him! :)
