Digestive system

Dentition (Teeth):
The type of teeth that people/animals can have are Incisors, Canines and Molars. Incisors are the teeth that you use to bite into your food. Canines are the teeth that are next in line that are developed in your mouth. You have four of them and they are your sharpest teeth and that is used to tear the food apart. Molars are used to crush the food so it is easier to swallow.

Oesophagus:
The oesophagus is a 25 centimeter tube that transforms the eaten food (bolus) into your stomach where it is digested.

Stomach:
The stomach is an internal organ which is connecting the Oesophagus and small intestine. It is a major part of the digestive system and it is used for digesting food.

Small intestine:
The small intestine is used for absorption of nutrients and minerals from food takes place. It lies between the stomach and large intestine, and receives bile and pancreatic juice through the pancreatic duct to aid in digestion.

Large intestine:
The large intestine is about 5 feet long and 3 inches in a diameter. The intestine absorbs water from waste and that is creating stool. As stool enters the rectum, nerves there create the urge to defecate.
Liver:
The liver is an organ and it is the size of a football. It sits under your rib cage on the right side of your abdomen. The liver is essential for digesting food and ridding your body toxic substances. Liver disease can also be genetic between whanau.

Rectum:
The rectum is a chamber that begins at the end of the large intestine, immediately following the sigmoid colon and it ends at the anus. Ordinarily, the rectum is empty because stool is stored higher in the descending colon.

Anus:
The anus is the opening where the gastrointestinal tract ends and exits the body. The anus starts at the bottom of the rectum, the last portion of the large intestine. The anorectal line separates the anus from the rectum. Tough tissue called fascia around the anus and attaches it to nearby structures.

Neuroscience Teenage brain development

In health we have been working on diversity. I have been working with Addyson and we choose 2 topics. One of them are teenage brain development and the other one is effects of gaming on the mind & body. We choose brain development and we had to choose something to create.

While working on this task it was kind of challenging to find some of the correct answers we wanted. We eventually got there at it turned out really well. I choose to try and do pro which is the middle level and I reckon I did pretty good so I'm proud of the work and the amount of work it put it.

Essay - Social Sustainability

 Social Sustainability (LGBTQ+)

Social Sustainability comes up a lot especially with the LGBTQ+ community. I’m here to provide you with information so you can support this community and not be so anti about it. Were all human and were all different.

If you consider yourself a part of the LGBTQ+ then you might think you have a different identity to others, and people consider this as a problem. What actually shapes your identity is passions, it could be what you're into and what you like doing. Some things that could shape your identity is the experiences you have, the people you hang out with, places you go to, the music you listen to and the type of conversations you have with people.

What is gender? There is no specific way to define yourself and what gender you are, you choose what you want to be. When you are born that is your sex which could be Male, Female or bigender. As you grow up you might experience a mood or mindset where you feel different and this is where the full LGBTQ+ community comes in.

Being LGBTQ+ can have massive effects on career choices and availability. Some managers won’t hire a person who is LGBTQ+. This affects our economy, if we don’t have people working then not as much money is spent. If the economy collapses then riots may become more frequent and crime has a chance to rise. That could cause harmful gasses to be released or cause more items to be broken meaning we need more resources to recreate them. People could get hurt, if that happened we would need to use resources to help heal and relieve these people of the pain.

I therefore come to the conclusion that the LGBTQ+ community doesn’t define who you are, you're just different in your own unique way. It is definitely okay to be different and doesn’t matter if you're a part of that community or not.

Heart Disection - 9hur2

  • What have we been learning about? / We have been learning about the heart and how it pumps our blood and how it helps us function.

  • Why are we dissecting heart? / To see what it's like on the inside and get a clear vision of something in real life instead of diagrams and drawings.

  • What are the parts of the heart? Did you see them? / Heart strings, Valves, Aorta, Ventricle, Arteries and we discovered the difference between the left and right side.

  • Did you enjoy the dissection? Why/why not? / Yes I enjoyed this and I think we should do it more often. I was super into the dissection because I'm really into science and the human/animals body.

During the dissection we had to cut down the left side on the heart but our right so we could look into the heart. We saw the valves, heart strings and aorta. After that we cut around the whole heart to look into both sides. We then started exploring the heart and cutting into places that should not be cut. the equipment we used were Scissors, scalpel and tweezers. We did not see the Atrium or the veins because when the heart is being cut out of its body the atrium gets cut off and the veins are up top towards the lungs.

What makes a good leader

 What makes a good leader?

To make a good leader you need to have some good confidence, with that you need to be able to talk to a crowd or people that are different ages and make it clear what your saying. Some examples of good leaders could be some teachers or people that run a business or even Jacinda Arden. For good leaders you have to have bravery, being brave means that you just do what you got to do and get on to it. Be reliable, if your reliable that means people can trust to rely on you for certain things. Show that you are empathetic and you have feelings towards others. You got to be a kind respectful person that shows kindness towards others so they could look up to you. Just be honest, honesty is key it just makes your more trust worthy. Have integrity if you fail just get back up again you will still be learning so it doesn't matter if you don't get a couple words right or anything.

Thinking about this how good do you think your leader skills could be?
